Shamrock glitter cards are a fun way for toddlers to explore textures and colours while making a special St. Patrick’s Day keepsake.
This craft encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and sensory exploration through painting, glueing, and decorating.

Materials Needed
- Cardstock or blank greeting cards
- Green paint
- Glue
- Green glitter
- Scissors (for cut-out shamrocks)
- Tissue paper or pom-poms (optional)
Step 1: Create the Shamrock Shape
Help toddlers make shamrocks by dipping thumbprints in green paint or glueing pre-cut shamrock shapes onto a card. Let the paint dry before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Apply Glue to the Shamrock
Carefully apply glue inside the shamrock outline. Use a paintbrush or glue stick to spread evenly, ensuring good coverage for the glitter.
Step 3: Sprinkle Green Glitter
Let toddlers sprinkle green glitter over the wet glue. Shake off the excess onto a tray or scrap paper to keep the mess contained.
Step 4: Add Texture and Details
Attach small pieces of tissue paper, pom-poms, or sequins to the card for extra sensory fun. Count the shamrock leaves together and explore different shades of green while decorating.
Step 5: Dry and Display
Allow the card to dry completely before handling. Once dry, use it as a festive decoration or send it as a handmade St. Patrick’s Day card to family and friends.
