Materials Needed
- Round white coffee filters
- Washable markers or food colouring
- Spray bottle filled with water
- Scissors
- Protective table covering
- Optional: ribbons or glitter for embellishment
Step 1: Prepare the Coffee Filters
- Flatten the coffee filters on your work surface.
- Fold each filter in half, then in half again, and once more to form a triangle.
- Using scissors, trim the open edges into an oval shape to resemble an egg.
- Unfold the filters to reveal your egg-shaped canvases.
Step 2: Decorate the Filters
- Place the egg-shaped filters on a protected surface to prevent stains.
- Use washable markers to create patterns, designs, or abstract art on the filters.
- Alternatively, apply drops of food colouring for a different effect.
Step 3: Blend the Colours
- Lightly spray the decorated filters with water using the spray bottle.
- Observe as the colours spread and blend, creating a tie-dye appearance.
- Allow the filters to dry completely.
Step 4: Create a Three-Dimensional Effect
- Once dry, stack 5-6 decorated filters together.
- Pinch the centre of the stack and secure it with glue to form a three-dimensional shape.
- Fluff the layers to enhance the 3D effect.
Step 5: Add Embellishments (Optional)
- Enhance your designs by adding ribbons, glitter, or other decorative elements as desired.
