Transform a simple paper plate into a festive pot of gold with this easy St. Patrick’s Day craft.

This activity helps toddlers develop fine motor skills through cutting, painting, and glueing while creating a fun holiday decoration.

Materials Needed

Step 1: Cut the Pot Shape

Fold a paper plate in half and cut out a rounded pot shape. Keep the bottom half broad and the top slightly curved to resemble a pot.

Step 2: Paint the Pot Black

Use black paint to cover the entire surface of the paper plate. Let it dry completely before moving to the next step.

Step 3: Create the Gold Coins

Cut a cloud-like shape from yellow cardstock to represent a pile of gold. Glue it to the back of the painted pot, so it appears gold is spilling over.

Step 4: Add Gold Details

Glue yellow buttons or beads onto the yellow cardstock to create a shiny gold coin effect. Press firmly to ensure they stick securely.

Step 5: Decorate and Display

For extra colour, attach rainbow-coloured yarn or paper strips around the pot. Once dry, display the craft on a wall, fridge, or bulletin board for a festive St. Patrick’s Day decoration.
