Materials Needed

Step 1: Prepare the Contact Paper

Cut two pieces of clear contact paper, each slightly larger than your desired egg size.

Peel the backing off one piece and place it on the sticky side of your work surface.

Step 2: Create the Egg Shape

Draw a large egg shape on the sticky side of the contact paper using a marker.

Step 3: Decorate the Egg

Let your toddler place colourful tissue paper pieces, flower petals, or spring leaves onto the sticky surface within the egg outline.

Encourage them to cover the entire area for a vibrant suncatcher.

Step 4: Seal the Suncatcher

Once the design is complete, peel the backing off the second contact paper.

Carefully place the sticky side down over the decorated side, sealing the materials between the two contact paper sheets.

Step 5: Trim the Edges

Cut around the egg shape, leaving a small border to ensure the contact paper remains sealed.

Step 6: Add a Border

Apply washi tape around the edges of the egg to create a cheerful border and reinforce the edges.

Step 7: Create a Hanging Loop

Punch a hole at the top of the egg.

Thread a piece of string or ribbon through the hole and tie it to form a loop for hanging.

Step 8: Display Your Suncatcher

Hang your creation where sunlight can dance through its colours, brightening your space with springtime charm.
