Transform an old basket into a charming Easter treasure with a simple fabric makeover.
This customisation project is perfect for repurposing materials while adding a personal touch.

Materials Needed
- Fabric squares (assorted Easter colours, 1-2 inches for patchwork)
- Scissors or rotary cutter
- Fabric glue or sewing kit (needle, thread, or sewing machine)
- Measuring tape
- Basket (wicker, plastic, or metal)
- Fabric for lining and handle
- Iron (for crisp fabric edges)
- Embellishments (ruffles, pom-poms, lace)
Step 1: Measure and Cut Fabric
- Measure the height and circumference of your basket to determine fabric size.
- If making a patchwork design, cut the fabric into 1-2 inch squares.
- Cut a piece of fabric large enough to cover the inside for a basket liner.
Step 2: Assemble the Patchwork Cover (Optional)
- Sew fabric squares together to create a patchwork sheet.
- Press seams with an iron to flatten them for a neat look.
- If not sewing, use fabric glue to attach squares onto a fabric backing.
Step 3: Attach the Fabric to the Basket
- Wrap the fabric around the basket, folding the edges neatly.
- Secure with fabric glue or hand-stitch along the edges.
- If using a liner, tuck the fabric inside the basket and glue or sew along the rim.
Step 4: Create and Attach the Handle
- Cut a fabric strip (about 2 inches wide and long enough to arch over the basket).
- Fold it lengthwise, sew along the edge, and turn it inside out for hidden seams.
- Topstitch for durability.
- Attach each end to the basket securely with glue or hand-stitching.
Step 5: Add Decorative Embellishments
- Sew or glue ruffles, pom-poms, or lace along the edges.
- Add bows or fabric flowers for extra charm.
Step 6: Final Touches and Drying
- Ensure all glued elements are secure.
- Let the basket sit overnight if using glue to allow it to set correctly.
