Bringing the magic of spring indoors is easy and fun with paper plate crafts. Using basic craft supplies, transform simple paper plates into charming bunnies and chicks.
These enjoyable activities help develop your toddler’s fine motor skills and creativity.

Materials Needed
- Paper plates
- Cotton balls
- Googly eyes
- Construction paper (various colours)
- Pipe cleaners
- Yellow paint
- Orange paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Optional: brass fasteners for movable parts
Fluffy Bunny Craft
- Prepare the Plate: Cover a paper plate with glue and stick cotton balls all over to create a fluffy texture.
- Create Ears: Cut two large ear shapes from white construction paper and two smaller inner ear shapes from pink paper. Glue the pink pieces onto the white ones, then attach the ears to the top of the plate.
- Add Facial Features: Glue on googly eyes. Use a small pink pom-pom or a piece of pink paper for the nose. Attach pipe cleaners beneath the nose to form whiskers.
- Optional Movable Parts: For interactive features, cut out paper legs and attach them to the bottom of the plate using brass fasteners, allowing them to move.
Cheerful Chick Craft
- Paint the Plate: Have your toddler paint a paper plate yellow and let it dry.
- Create the Beak: Cut a small diamond shape from orange construction paper, fold it in half to form a beak, and glue it to the centre of the plate.
- Add Eyes: Glue googly eyes above the beak.
- Attach Wings and Feet: Cut wing shapes from yellow paper and feet from orange paper. Glue the wings to the sides and the feet to the bottom of the plate.
- Optional Movable Eggshell: For an interactive element, cut another paper plate in half, decorate it like a cracked eggshell, and attach it over the chick with brass fasteners so it can open and close.
Safety Note: Always supervise your toddler during crafting, especially when using scissors and small items.
