This sensory-filled shaving cream rainbow activity lets toddlers explore colours and textures fun and creatively.
They can create beautiful marbled prints by swirling colours into shaving cream, making it a perfect St. Patrick’s Day craft.

Materials Needed
- Shaving cream (or whipped cream for younger toddlers)
- Large tray or shallow bin
- Food colouring or liquid watercolours
- Thick paper or cardstock
- Popsicle sticks or spoons for swirling
- Towels and water for cleanup
Step 1: Prepare the Shaving Cream Base
Spread a thick shaving cream evenly onto a large tray or shallow bin. This will serve as the surface for the marbled rainbow effect.
Step 2: Add Food Colouring
Drop small amounts of food colouring or liquid watercolours onto the shaving cream in different sections. Use the classic rainbow colours—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
Step 3: Swirl the Colours
Use a popsicle stick, spoon, or fingers to swirl the colours together, gently creating marbled patterns. Avoid over-mixing to keep the colours distinct and vibrant.
Step 4: Press the Paper onto the Swirled Surface
Place a sheet of cardstock or thick paper on the shaving cream, pressing lightly to transfer the design. Let it sit for a few seconds before carefully lifting it off.
Step 5: Reveal and Display the Artwork
Use a spatula or a flat edge to scrape off excess shaving cream, revealing the marbled rainbow print. Allow it to dry completely before displaying the artwork on a wall or fridge as a festive St. Patrick’s Day decoration.
